The advantage of outlined tables is that it makes tabular data easy to enter and easy to read.

Navigating the table templates

The columns of the table templates in this file are aligned using MS Sans Serif 12 pt font, such that when you tab across the top of the table, you will stop at the beginning of the column(s). This allows you to easily enter headings at the top of each column.

To enter data in the table, first enter the data in row 1, column 1. Then hit the tab key to go to row 1, column 2. Continue doing this until you have entered data in the final column of row 1. Then, rather than hit the tab key, hit the enter key. This will create a new empty row of cells directly below the current row in your table ready to be filled with data. Continue doing this until you have completed the table filled with your data.

Using the table templates in this file

If you are using MS Sans Serif 12 pt. font and the structure of the columns in this file fits your needs, you can simply copy the template to your own AZZ Cardfile.

Creating your own table templates

It's really easy to create your own outlined tables for use in AZZ Cardfile. Simply use a spreadsheet program such as Microsoft Excel or Open Office Calc and:

• set the spreadsheet font and point size to that which you want to use in AZZ Cardfile
• set the column sizes according to the data you want to enter
• highlight one row of the columns you want to use; copy and paste the highlighted area into AZZ Cardfile
• a row of bordered cells identical to those in the spreadsheet will be created in your file
• navigate the table as outlined above

Note - You can specify font characteristics in the table such as color, bold, etc. However, you cannot align text within the columns. For instance, if you try to center-align text within a column, the outline of the table becomes centered on the AZZ Cardfile page since the outline is recognized as text. If necessary to alter text position within a cell in the table, you need to enter spaces before the data you are entering. Normally this should not be necessary.

The software needed to open this file, Azz Cardfile, is shareware. You are welcome to try it out - downloadable version is fully functional.

1. Save (not Open) this file: Outlined Tables.zip (2 KB)

2. Decompress (unzip) FILE.ZIP - will result in FILE.AZZ . Open this FILE.AZZ in AZZ Cardfile program.
